# Business Operations Domain: Operating Model and Responsibilities

> Defines how Business Operations runs inside SpineWorkspace: the operating model, team responsibilities, KPIs, and explicit non-goals.

Business Operations in SpineWorkspace exists to make cross-functional execution predictable, compliant, and measurable. It is not a ticketing system or a project management tool. It is a governed projection of processes, approvals, vendors, policies, and OKRs from the Spine Fabric.

The operating model centers on BizOps leads who steward process health and operations analysts who triage exceptions, run improvement cycles, and maintain vendor and policy data. Both roles work inside the same contextual workbench, where Twin and domain agents surface what needs attention and propose next steps with full source-system context.

Responsibilities include:

* Owning process definitions, SLA baselines, and health metrics.
* Managing intake, triage, and routing of approvals and exceptions.
* Running vendor onboarding, risk reviews, and contract renewals.
* Coordinating OKR alignment cycles and progress attestation.
* Maintaining policy currency, exception records, and audit evidence.
* Driving process improvement projects with before/after measurement.

KPIs:

* Approval turnaround time (median and 95th percentile).
* Vendor onboarding cycle time from request to active status.
* Policy attestation coverage and exception rate.
* OKR progress update completeness per cycle.
* Process SLA breach rate and bottleneck frequency.
* Cost-per-transaction trend across key workflows.

Non-goals:

* Replacing dedicated HRIS, ERP, or CRM user interfaces.
* Serving as the primary document editor or spreadsheet tool.
* Acting as a standalone data warehouse or BI platform.
