# Finance & RevOps Domain: Operating Model and Responsibilities

> Defines how Finance and RevOps operates inside SpineWorkspace: the operating model, team responsibilities, KPIs, and explicit non-goals.

Finance and RevOps in SpineWorkspace exists to make revenue operations accurate, predictable, and auditable. It is not a general ledger replacement or a standalone ERP. It is a governed projection of contracts, invoices, subscriptions, and revenue data from the Spine Fabric.

The operating model centers on RevOps leads who manage pipeline hygiene and renewal execution, Finance analysts who run close and reconciliation, and the CFO who reviews forecasts and exceptions. All roles work inside the same contextual workbench, where Twin and domain agents surface what needs attention and propose next steps with full source-system context.

Responsibilities include:

* Owning revenue recognition schedules, adjustments, and audit readiness.
* Managing the monthly close cycle: validation, reconciliation, journal entry, and review.
* Running renewal forecasts, pipeline coverage, and booking accuracy.
* Investigating reconciliation exceptions and matching discrepancies.
* Maintaining contract data integrity across CRM, billing, and ERP.
* Producing board-ready metrics: ARR, MRR, net retention, and gross margin.

KPIs:

* Days to close (mean and variance per month).
* Forecast accuracy (actual vs. projected by period).
* Renewal rate and expansion revenue rate.
* Invoice-to-cash cycle time.
* Reconciliation match rate and unmatched queue age.
* Revenue recognition error rate and audit finding count.

Non-goals:

* Replacing the general ledger, payroll, or tax engine.
* Serving as the primary payment processor or billing UI.
* Acting as a standalone data warehouse or BI platform.
